U.I Vice chancellor;Idowu Olayinka: A case study of "THE PHARAOH" on Nigeria's campuses by Olayimika chocomilo

Four years ago, the leadership of FPE Students’ Union protested the usage of the school pavilion by the organisers of “Ogbeni Jubilee’s Cup” for the kick-off ceremony. It was a very unusual, unpleasant and bad day for Aregbesola, organisers of this competition, top officials in Osun Govt. and invited guests because they were thoroughly embarrassed, ridiculed and humiliated by the leadership of FPE Students’ Union. Despite pleas from government officials, organisers and invited guests; they did not allow these people to come into the pavilion and organisers were forced to pick another venue for the competition. Eventhough it was a political move sponsored by the opposition as opined by some students while union officials lamented that they were not informed by the school authority; at the final stage, the management of FPE proscribed the union for four years. There is no doubt that the suspension of union activities whenever there is a clash of interest betwee...

Image
A pressure group, Nigerian Wailers, has passed a vote of no confidence on the government of President Muhammadu Buhari on the occasion of the 2017 Democracy Day. The group said this was with regard to the government’s failure to fulfill its campaign promises after two years in office. A statement signed by Fasipe Oluyemi, its Deputy National Publicity Secretary, said Buhari’s government, which had given hope on many positive promises during its campaign, had not lived up to the expectation. Nigerian Wailers added that: “We are aware of President Buhari’s ill health and how badly it has affected governance in the country. We hereby call on Mr President to resign from office on health grounds. The country is in a very bad shape and cannot afford a part time or invincible President. “Further more, we urge the National Assembly to do the needful if President Buhari is unable to resign by himself by impeaching him. The country should not be put on hold because of one citizen.” ...

Well fed slaves or free hungry men by Oludiran Olusola(cyrus)

Image
WELL FED SLAVES OR FREE HUNGRY MEN? Twisting and ruminating over the issues of life .it has always been making me feel like there are many unanswered questions in the world, but  how do we perceive this incorrigible questions of society.                                                                                                                       One of the major clamors and agitations of  the world is freedom, even those who claim  to have freedom still want it absolutely, and those who are enslaved no longer want to be under bondage any more. But  my opinion to these questions  unanimously, questions these agitations. According to Beautiful Nubia in one...

POLITICAL HALLELUJAHism & POLITICAL AMENism by Dunnex

Image
( As related  with Peter Ayodele Fayose, The governor of Ekiti State). True leadership is about the next generation and not the next election - Dunnex.  When silence is no longer golden, tell no lies, claim no easy victory, tell the truth the way it is- amical cabral With due respects to Christianity as a body, I have chosen to address the title of this piece by common terms in Christianity ; hallelujah & amen, since majority of the Ekiti's are very conversant with this words and it's in-depth meanings and respective importance in the christiandom. The former(hallelujah) can be properly defined as a particular gesture made by christians during worship, praises & other church activities, this requires the raising of hands far above the head in a flap-like manner. While, The latter(amen) can be said as a verbal expression which signifies the end of a prayer. Hebrew even  has it that Amen means 'So be it'.i.e Amen signifies the agreement to the prayer an...

So sad! As another nollywood actress died

Image
Yesterday was a hard day for most stakeholders in the Yoruba section of the Nigerian film industry. Moji Olaiya, a popular cross-over actress had passed in faraway Canada. The mood around film locations in Lagos, Ibadan and Abeokuta was pensive. The loud wailing by some of the sympathizers foiled filming sessions; this was just as many stormed the actress’ UNILAG Estate home, Magodo to confirm with her aged mother. It was tears all the way. Moji, 42, niece to veteran highlife maestro Dr Victor Olaiya died two months after she had her second baby in Ontario, Canada. Although the childbirth was without complications, as the baby arrived two months earlier to her EDD, reports say the premature delivery saw the actress in and out of hospital for routine medical attention for mother and child. Irony however played a fast one on the thespian whose health condition appeared to have improved, as seen in a lively Instagram picture with her child two days earlier. She was thanking God f...

How to be successful in your career

Success is a subjective notion, if there ever was one. But for simplicity's sake, let's assume the higher you are on  Maslow's hierarchy of needs , the better you're doing. In case you don't remember the levels from Psych 101, essentially, people can't be their best possible selves (self-actualization) until lower-level needs are met first. In other words, you can't be an ideal version of yourself if you don't have enough food and  money  to pay the bills, or enough love and esteem to  feel good  about your value as a human being. So, what can you do to move yourself up the pyramid? Check out the findings from several studies, which shine a light on what it takes to achieve more in life. Increase your confidence by taking action. Katty Kay and Claire Shipman, authors of  The Confidence Code , wrote a stellar article for  The Atlantic  on this subject. Highlighting scads of studies that have found that a wide confidence gap exists betw...

We won’t provide updates on Buhari’s health, treatment says FG–Govt source

It appears the Federal Government has ruled out the possibility of providing daily bulletin/update on President Muhammdu Buhari’s health status and treatment while in London, the United Kingdom. Top Federal Government sources told  Saturday PUNCH  that there was no need for such updates since Buhari had handed over to his deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who is now the acting PresidentThe The President had travelled to London last Sunday, almost two months after returning from the European country for medical treatment. He had first left the country for London on January 19, 2017 and returned on March 10, 2017, in what would be his longest medical trip ever so far. He had after returning to Nigeria confessed that he had never been that sick in his life, adding that he would again embark on another medical trip in the future. There had been overwhelming calls from several sections of the country for the Federal Government to make the President’s health...

Kanu stated this ‎yesterday when he paid a 'thank you' visit to the Eastern Consultative Assembly (ECA) top members in Enugu, including Chief (Mrs.) Maria Okwor, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu-Ukoh, among others. The IPOB leader, who expressed gratitude for the support showed to him by the group, said he chose the option of fighting to liberate the people of Biafra and that there was no going back about it. He said: "I have chosen the option that we must be free as a people; that we must be liberated as a race and that we must have our God-given freedom and I would not want to go to Heaven to experience it. I want to experience it here. "I thank all of you that worked very hard, especially the Igbo Youth Movement (IYM); I must be specific, and the Eastern Consultative Assembly and all the m...
