411 Saga- OAU dimisses Professor Akindele

The Obafemi Awolowo University has sacked Professor Akindele from the department Management and Accounting who allegedly requested for sex in exchange for mark from a female student Monica Osagie.

His dismissal was validated by the Management of the school through the press release signed by the vice chancellor of the school Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede on Wednesday 20th June 2018.

It was be recalled that sequel to this moment,  the dismissed Professor has already been placed on suspension by the Senate of the school,  meanwhile it was said that the investigation was ongoing.

According to the the release by the vice chancellor which says " the Senate recommended that Professor Richard Akindele, having been found liable on all the allegations against him, should be dismissed from the services of the University.

The Council, at its meeting of today, Wednesday, 20th of June, 2018, having considered the recommendation of Senate, as well as the report of the Joint Committee of Council and Senate, decided that Professor Richard I. Akindele should be dismissed from the services of the University for gross misconduct."

In respect of that, many reactions from the students have been coming out towards his dismissal,

Taiwo Sunday from the department of English Language joyously commented " This is a good development,  at least this will serve as deterrent to other lecturers who are involved in this corrupt act.

So sad! As another nollywood actress died

Yesterday was a hard day for most stakeholders in the Yoruba section of the Nigerian film industry. Moji Olaiya, a popular cross-over actress had passed in faraway Canada. The mood around film locations in Lagos, Ibadan and Abeokuta was pensive. The loud wailing by some of the sympathizers foiled filming sessions; this was just as many stormed the actress’ UNILAG Estate home, Magodo to confirm with her aged mother. It was tears all the way. Moji, 42, niece to veteran highlife maestro Dr Victor Olaiya died two months after she had her second baby in Ontario, Canada.
