Those who are taking concerted effort to ensure that great Ife restamp its spot in the comity of Union as the voice of the voiceless, the hand of the hand less and the defendant of powerless. OAU threatens ANSA bonfire ,the Association responds

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University has threatened the bonfire and symposium which is  organized by Alliance of Nigerian students Against Neo liberal Attacks which is stipulated for today 28th October, 2017. According to the special release signed by the Dean of director of students affairs Professor Aransi, which says "The Division of students Affairs wishes to inform all students that the Alliance of Nigerian students Against Neo liberal Attacks is not a registered Association with the Division of students affairs of the university. Hence, any student who organises a programme in the name of unregistered association or any student who attends program being organised by the said group does so in violation of his / her matric oath. OAU FASA president denies sex scandal allegations against AGS

The President  of Faculty of Arts students Association  Adegbite Abimbola (Obims) has outrightly denied accusing the Assistance general secretary  of the association Akomolafe Tolulope also known as Toluano of having sexual intercourse in the Association' s office. It will be recalled that the President of association allegedly accused  Mr Toluano of having sexual intercourse in the association office in a parliamentary sitting  which held on 10th July 2017. While defending himself of the allegation wired against him for not carrying his fellow executive members along in his administration. Sequel to this, the President reacted during the faculty parliamentary session which held on Monday 23rd October, 2017. OAU student breaks 28years jinx.

A student of medicine of Obafemi Awolowo University , Aarinola Olaiya has broken 28 years record of the department as she emerged as the overall best graduating student of the department. Aarinola, who is said to  have had distinctions in seven different courses both in her 400 and 500 level, and also the first student to achieve this in the past twenty eight years. While receiving reactions from her colleagues , one Mr Anthony Ifedigbo said that " Aarinoola has set a good pace for us, we are proud of her. She is expected to bag seventeen awards during the school convocation which will come by December of this year

OAU warns students against protests.

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University has warned the students of the school not to engage  in any form of protest because of the suspended students. It will be recalled that the  school suspended three students during the week, the students who are oluwalade Babatunde from faculty of Arts, who is the chairman of transportation committee of the students Union,  John Udeh from faculty of Education and Omole Ibukun from faculty of Technology for participating in a peaceful protest for electricity on 5th and 6th October 2017. Although , students have decided to take proactive steps in order to obtain justice and fairness for the suspended students. Sequel to this, the management has threatened in the latest special release from the Director of Students affairs , signed by the Dean Professor Aransi himself, stating that " students are advised to avoid insinuation or call for protest on the matter so as to avoid complicating the matter for the suspended students" ...

OAU suspends three students

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University has suspended three students of the school . The students; oluwalade Babatunde, Omole Ibukun and John Udeh were said to be served letters of suspension on 11th and 12th October, 2017 respectively for participating in a protest which the students embarked on the 6th of October 2017. According to the letter, they were asked to vacate the school and to leave the school environment until the investigation is completed on them.

The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Adewale Akanbi has described corruption in the Nigeria as a deadly cankerworm which does nothing else but to kill the progress of the country. While giving his speech on  the topic " building and sustaining viable youth for the society "  in oduduwa hall of Obafemi Awolowo University on Wednesday 11th October 2017, The Monarch lamented  about the state of country as he said " Corruption is killing this nation  and Youth of Nigeria must fight it out with all their strengths because if you do not destroy it, you will be destroyed by it. " He also called the attention of Nigeria politicians to put their proper attention to corruption, he said "any politician who is not ready to exterminate corruption will never earn my support." He also admonished the youths and the government to empower industrialization in the country , in other to overcome the challenges of unemployment the country  is facing

There should be changes in educational curricular -OAU VC

The vice chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, professor Eyitope ogunbodede has stated that  there should be a change in curricular of education in Nigeria. Ogunbodede, who made this statement while giving his opening speech at the  Faculty of Education interdisciplinary conference which held in oduduwa hall on 10th October, 2017, said " I will  implore the faculty of Education to resuscitate the part time program during the long break so that many people will be able to have proper educational knowledge". While showing his dissatisfaction over the state of education in Nigeria he said " Many students do not have extra knowledge ,especially in management and that is making the government not to have any confidence in their graduates for employment ". "There should be a room for change in the curricular for education in Nigeria. " he said.

OAU students lament and protest over total black out

The students of Obafemi Awolowo University had come out en mass to show their grievances over the total black which the school has been for the past five days. The protest which started around 1pm on 4th October 2017 from the halls of residence was moved down to the Dean of director of students affairs' office. Although the Dean was not in office to attend to them due to , but he was represented by one of his assistants who promised that solution will be proffered after he had given them special release of notification. Afterwards, the students marched down to the students union building to agitate and to hear the students Union president's address to their agitation but he was no where to be found.
